In December 2019 we launched a six-week long consultation on the future of each of our cycling disciplines, to help us to prioritise investment and resource and enable us to work more strategically.
Through the consultation we heard from riders, coaches, commissaires, event organisers and others involved in supporting our sport, followed by a series of workshops and discussions with our Commissions, National Councillors, Scottish Cycling, Welsh Cycling and others. In total over 17,000 people engaged with the process, highlighting the incredible passion within the cycling community to change our sport for the better,
We are now pleased to present the outcome of that process, in the form of seven long-term strategic plans for each of our disciplines, and you can find these below.
The plans will formally cover the period from 2021-26, though many of the ambitions have a longer term focus, and we will use the first year of the plans to ensure our sport is able to quickly bounce back from the impact of Covid-19. We’ll also use this time to establish benchmarks for each of our disciplines, so that we’re better able to understand our impact and changes in the landscape.
While our plans will continue to develop over time, we want to say a huge thanks to everybody who has contributed to the process up to this point. The plans have benefitted greatly from your experience, knowledge and passion, and we look forward to working with you all to bring them to life over the coming years.
