As part of our work to improve the current offering for BMX racing, we’ve listened to feedback from the BMX community and their thoughts on the current format of the National BMX Racing Championships format.
Until now the championships have only been open to Championship riders (Elite, under-23 and junior, in line with UCI requirements).
We are pleased to now share our plans to expand the event so that it can continue to grow over the coming years. This year we will be introducing national championship status to six more 20” categories – these are 13-14, 15-16 and 30+ (for both open and female categories).
These categories will be invite-only, based on national series standings, and will be free to enter. They will take place on the evening of Friday 5 July, following practice, ahead of the ninth and 10th rounds of the National BMX Racing Series at Birmingham BMX Club.
The races will use the World Cup (LCQ race) format, with the winners able to wear the coveted national champion’s jersey for the following year.
