Coaching in Context

This module supports coaches in developing a wider understanding of the technical and tactical demands of the discipline as well as developing knowledge in planning, and the physical and psychological demands of the discipline. Learning will include an exploration of skill acquisition in context. The learning experience will be both supportive and challenging, bringing coaches together to collaborate and create.

This is the second module in the Coach Award, but it can be accessed as a standalone module for some qualified coaches.

What can I do once I have completed this module?

You will be able to deliver more advanced techniques in your discipline, with more approaches to apply with your riders to really support their development in the discipline. You can find out more about the specific technical syllabus for each discipline.

What will I learn?

This module follows Introduction to Coaching and really starts to explore approaches to coaching and skill acquisition in different contexts.

You will have some e-learning theory which follows from Introduction to Coaching, as well as introducing new ideas to discuss in seminars and on the development days with your peers. You will also be expected to coach a group of riders in your context throughout the course, to apply and develop your practice.

There will be opportunities to share this coaching experience with your peers using an online space (The Hub) for collaborative learning.

Who can access it?

Active qualified coaches who are curious and motivated to explore new ideas and develop their practice. There will be opportunities to share through discussion and a collaborative online space, creating a community of coaching experience. The learning is designed to support coaches in participation, development and performance domains.
