TALENTED 18-year-old Scott McCrossan marked himself as a name for the future with a superb victory in Wansbeck CC's 60-mile Thornton Trophy road race over some of the roads used for last month's National Road Race Championships.
The Lanark-based first year senior, who turned 18 last December, outsprinted his more senior rivals in a six-man break after three laps oif a testing circuit including the short but ssteep climb of The Ryalls which accouned for more of the field each time round.
The decisive move came just after the bell when three riders finally slipped clear from the dwindling bunch and were chased down by three more to form the winning break.
