World champion Beth Shriever leads a star-studded line-up at the British BMX Championships this weekend, which takes place from Saturday 26 to Sunday 27 August in Derby. Here we’ve picked out some ones to watch and all the details you need to follow the action.

Ones to watch

Having last hosted the British BMX Championships in 2019, riders will return to Derby for the 2023 edition of the event, with reigning champions Beth Shriever and Quillan Isidore both looking to defend their titles.

After her recent success at the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships, where she secured her second elite world title, Shriever will be looking to add another British title to her collection here. The Olympic champion will face competition for the podium spots from the blossoming next generation of female BMX racers, including Elsa Rendall-Todd and Freia Challis, who both took home golds in the BMX Challenge Crusier category at the world championships. 

In the Superclass men’s category, world championship quarter-finalist Isidore will be hoping to retain his title, but will have to overcome 2018 European champion and Great Britain Cycling Team Junior Academy Coach Kyle Evans, and National BMX Racing Series round two winner Callum Strickland. George Hunt will also be looking for a medal in his first year in the senior ranks, having won the junior men’s silver in the 2022 edition.

Charlie Roy will be hoping to get back on the junior men’s podium this year after his fantastic bronze medal from 2022. Roy will have to battle against this year’s National BMX Racing Series round winners including Ben Fitzsimmons, Taylor Hunt and Ben Cornish.

Throughout the two days of racing, there will be races from age groups spanning from under-six to up to 50+, with categories for juniors, masters and veterans too! You can find the full schedule here.
