British Cycling can today announce the dates for the 2024 national BMX racing calendar, with 10 national series rounds, the national championships in Birmingham and the British BMX Championships returning to Derby.

The opening rounds of the National BMX Racing Series take place in Manchester at the home of British Cycling, the National Cycling Centre, over the weekend of 23-24 March. The venue hosted the final rounds of the 2023 series, seeing world champion Beth Shriever and Olympic silver medallist Kye Whyte take back-to-back wins on their home track.

Having hosted the opening rounds of the 2023 season, Cyclopark in Gravesend will return to the calendar for the third and fourth rounds on 20-21 April. Last year saw Freia Challis announce herself in the women’s championship category at the venue, with the then 15-year-old taking consecutive victories. Further information about evening training sessions, open gate practice, regional races and
weekend parking details are available on the events page of Cyclopark’s website here.

Cumbernauld Centurions BMX Club in Scotland will host the fifth and sixth rounds of the series over the weekend of 8-9 June, before we then head to Platt Fields Park in Manchester for the penultimate rounds on the weekend of 22-23 June.

Perry Park BMX Track in Birmingham will host the final two rounds of the series, which will double up as a national championships, over the weekend of 6-7 July.

The 2024 British BMX Championships will once again take place in Derby, recognising the great work of Derby BMX Club in hosting last year’s event.

Taking place on the weekend of 24-25 August, Beth Shriever and Quillan Isidore will be hoping to retain their titles for the third year in a row, and with the Olympic Games taking place earlier in the month, the pair will undoubtedly be returning in fine form.

Managing Director of British Cycling Events, Jonathan Day, said:

“We’re pleased to have been able to extend the National BMX Racing Series back to 10 rounds for the 2024 season, and I know that our riders will already be looking ahead to another busy and high-quality calendar of events, culminating in the British BMX Championships in Derby.

“We’re hugely thankful to all of our hosting clubs, event organisers and volunteers for their ongoing support, and look forward to watching the discipline go from strength-to-strength once again, harnessing the inspiration and spotlight of Paris 2024.”
