Riders of the Midlands BMX Series had the honour of making the first competitive wheelmarks on an all-new Perry Park track, due to host the European Championships on June 18-19.
Although the official opening of Perry Park is one month away, the first racing at the legacy track for the 2012 BMX World Championships represented a milestone in preparations for the two biggest events in BMX racing - the World Championships and the Olympic Games - coming to the UK.
The track - a result of the 2012 World Championships legacy agreement between British Cycling and Birmingham City Council - has been over a year in the making and will now go on to host some of the biggest names in the sport at the European Championships.
British Cycling photographer Richard Robotham was on hand to capture the action, while Roger Wilbraham provides the video.
