Adam Brayton and Jess Stone stormed the slopes of Glencoe to take elite wins in the fourth round of the Lloyds Bank National Downhill Series.
Elite
Adam Brayton clocked 2:42.147 to take the open win, but the battle for second was a tight one. Jamie Edmondson clocked a time of 2:43.838 to finish just ahead of Luke Mumford in 2:43.999.
In the women’s category, Jess Stone continued to show her dominance in the series with another win. Stone clocked 3:12.484 to finish ahead of seasoned cross-country rider Emily Carrick-Anderson on 3:18.652. Scottish rider Aimi Kenyon took third with 3:19.242.
Junior
In the junior women’s category, Heather Wilson continued her fine form to secure another win in the series. Wilson stormed to a time of 3:08.772, while Charlotte Tuckwood came second in 3:35.213.
Sorley Swabey was crowned the winner of the junior open race, taking a time of 2:40.346, while Daniel Parfitt was one second back to take the second spot on the podium. New Zealander Oli Clark came home third half a second behind on 2:41.512.
Senior and expert
Wheelbase Downhill Team took a fantastic 1-2 in the expert open category, with Sam Conroy taking the victory in 2:43.352 and Tomasso Campana one second behind. Josh Turner finished third on 2:45.439.
Emma Wood was the winner of the senior women’s race, clocking a time of 3:20.086. Mary Lynes took home second on 3:24.052, as Jennifer Wark finished third.
The top three in the senior open category all managed to go under three minutes, with Calum McGee taking the win ahead of Josh Adams and Ollie McCann.
Juvenile and youth
Ruben Byrne of Green Machine TRiBE won the juvenile category as the only rider to go under three minutes on 2:59.451. Ruari Younie finished second on 3:01.504, with Thomas Jenkins securing third three seconds back.
Megan Horne had a fantastic performance in the juvenile and youth girls category, taking the win 10 seconds ahead of second place, with a time of 3:09.204. Jessica Wipat finished second on 3:19.593 as Katie Melville finished third on 3:19.811.
In the youth category, Stan Nisbet clocked the fastest time on 2:45.835, with Nathan de Vaux just behind. Cole McCann came third on 2:52.196.
Masters and veterans
Adam Harris clocked 2:47.831 in the masters category, with Matthew Rushton taking second in 2:53.684 and Jon Stout finishing two seconds behind.
Neil White was crowned the open veteran champion ahead of Marcus Scott and Mark Harries, while John Young took the open grand veteran crown ahead of Mark Weightman and Christopher Whitfield.
The final round of the series will take place over the weekend of 14-15 September at Rhyd-y-Felin.
