Safe Wheel is a four-hour interactive workshop designed specifically for Cycling Club Welfare Officers. It has been developed by Safeguarding and Educational experts at British Cycling and is the most appropriate and relevant training for Club Welfare Officers.
This workshop builds on basic safeguarding awareness and focuses on implementation in the club environment. It will cover safeguarding adults and children and will also give individuals an opportunity to discuss specific issues, challenges and good practice in a friendly environment.
The workshop will cover:
- the role of the CWO
- creating a safe environment
- the role of British Cycling
- legislation
How will the course be delivered?
The course will be delivered via Zoom over two workshops. These will take place on a Tuesday & Thursday, or Monday & Wednesday, from 7-9pm within one week, where you will need to attend both sessions.
Completion of the basic online training, attendance of the Safe Wheel workshop and an up-to-date British Cycling DBS will be accepted as evidence of your club meeting the required safeguarding standards for affiliation.
