Dan Lewis (RAF CC) was first over the line in round 12 of the Western League at Beaufort School in Gloucester on Sunday.
The 35-year-old Wiltshire rider got off to a great start on a cold January day and he had Adeo Cadence man Charles Coleman for company as the two jockeyed for position over the first three laps.
As the race wore on, Coleman struggled to maintain the pace and fell back in the field and Peter Kench of GWR Team came on strong to offer Lewis new competition.
For the last four laps of the race, Kench gradually gained on the RAF leader but he was never going to catch him and finished some 50 seconds off Lewis’s pace. Coleman held third spot after losing his pace and was around 20 seconds down on Kench.
In other categories, Stuart Pickering (Cyclelogic) came top of the veterans and VC St Raphael’s Marianne Britton, 33, was the first of the women.
