Black Hawk Bikes secured a one-two in the third round of the CXNE League at Preston Park, Stockton-on-Tees, on Sunday.

Tony Fawcett, 33 and from Stanley in County Durham, crossed the line alone after a strong ride, 1-41 ahead of team-mate Kenny Haswell from Sunderland.

And there was a sprint for the final podium place, with MTS rider Malcolm Lewis just edging out event organiser Alan Nixon (Black Hawk Bikes), about ten seconds behind Haswell, and thereby denying Black Hawk Bikes a 1-2-3 in their promotion.

The racing was fast and furious from the start, but Fawcett was at the head of the race virtually from the gun and gradually pulled out his lead.

Haswell battled on alone in no-man's land, and while he eventually lost sight of Fawcett, he was very much still in view of the group of four riders behind who were battling to keep up.

Keith Murray (Hope Factory Racing) was pushing hard to escape the rest of the chasing group but he failed to shake them off, and Lewis and Nixon eventually edged ahead as Murray's leg's tired.

The course proved popular once again, with a figure-eight circuit giving riders a twisty wooded section before emerging out onto grassland, which also included tight turns and technical areas which proved difficult with slight rain showers making it greasy.
