Going clear from a leading group of six riders at the end of the opening lap, Will Bjergfelt (Cycle Premier-Kovert) scored a clear victory in misty and soggy conditions for the Team Striking Bikes event in Stroud.

Without a warm-up lap, the 33-year-old Bristol rider used the first lap of the demanding course as a sighter, and once he knew where he was going, none of the rest could match his pace.

Behind him, last year’s league winner Charles Coleman (Cadence Cannondale) emerged in a clear second place but there was plenty of chopping and changing among the rest of the leaders with junior Joe Griffith (Dream Cycling) holding third spot for a while but eventually forced back into seventh.

Liam Glen (Kinesis Morvelo Project) moved up into third place, and former event winner Scott Chalmers (Dream Cycling) worked his way up through the field to take fourth in a good scrap with Matt Thomson (Cardiff JIF) and Stuart Lynch(R&R Sport).

The leading veteran was Stroud-based Richard Cross (Noahs Ark), who was never troubled by nearest rival Tim Carpenter (Elite Velo) with series leader Steve Brown (Dream Cycling) in third.

Harry Sowden (Bad ass Bikes) was a runaway winner of the youth race ahead of his brother Jack.
