Local rider Peter Banham (Fred Williams Cycles) took his second win in as many weeks in the senior and veterans (40-50) race with a fine solo display of riding from the front.
After several weeks of hard and fast racing riders were faced with a very wet and muddy Aldersley Stadium for round six of the West Midlands Cyclo-Cross series. Long sections caked with thick mud and sharp un-rideable banks made racing a very hard slog for all riders.
Banham just about held on to the victory from Stephen Knight (Team Jewson) who started with the veterans a minute behind and road into second overall and first veteran.
Despite suffering a double puncture, Perry Bowater (MG-Maxifuel) road back into third place.
By the time the senior riders started, the course had became very slippery and caused many riders to slide off their bikes.
In the junior and veteran (50+) race James Garratt (Welland Valley) took top honours with Ian Wright (Dig Deep Coaching) coming home second and first veteran (50+).
The youth race was later in the afternoon and proved to be really tough going with Louis Killworth (Welland Valley CC) taking victory by nearly a minute ahead of Joshua Gunn (Solihull CC).
First under-14 home and third place overall was Toby Barnes (Lichfield City CC).
