Davie Lines made it two wins on the bounce as he took first place in the EKRC Strathclyde Park Cyclo-Cross in Motherwell.
The MG Maxifuel rider was in the mix for the whole of the race, spending much of it at the front of the pack.
With Colin May (VC Edinburgh) and Sean Clark (Velo Sportive) also chasing the victory, Lines tested his opponents with a few attacks but was reined back in.
Then, with two laps to go, the 35-year-old made a break on the steep climb before the finish line.
He showed great strength to hold off the rest of the bunch and completed the rest of the race on his own, coming in 15 to 20 seconds ahead of May in second and Clark in third.
Lines said: “I got away a few times, just to see who was going to be a threat. I noticed that I was stronger on the climb and so that’s where I made my attack. I was happy to get two wins in a row, it’s only my third race. I was second in nearly every race last year and I’m definitely feeling better.
“The priority for me is to get decent results in the British and Scottish Championships. In the last two years I haven’t done much racing but I’ve been racing with MG Maxifuel and that’s been great for me. The rest has done me good too.”
