The Craig Armitage Trophy Road Race

Road , Leeds – Sunday, 16 Jul 2017

Event Summary

Event Overview

In its second year, we are pleased to announce the Craig Armitage Trophy Road Race.

On this fantastic circuit for the rouleur, puncheur or sprinteur we present the race in the honour and memory of our great friend, team mate, lifelong cyclist, racer and coach, Craig Armitage, 1972-2015.

This circuit was the scene of many placings and a fantastic win for Craig. It was, in his own words "my circuit", and he proved that in 2012 with a win.

Craig was very sadly killed in a cycling accident and left his three young kids and his wife, Jill, too early. His life had just changed for the better, co-owning InGear Coaching, a Leeds based cycle coaching company in Otley, before the accident that took his life on February 15th 2015.

The race is to commemorate Craig's life, his incredible passion for cycling and to continue his legacy through competitive racing.

This year, a trophy will be introduced, to record the winners of the race, courtesy of one of Craig's best mates, Jim Bainbridge.

We aim to recycle as much of the entry as possible fee back into prizes.

Sponsors for prime prizes are always welcome and prizes will be announced on the day.

This year, an increase in entry fee has had to be made to cover the ever increasing cost of private road traffic management. We'll strive to improve towards the BC registered 'super marshals'.

Long may we ride!
