HSBC UK Go-Ride Holiday Coaching Camps offer training and education dedicated to specific levels of rider over a range of disciplines. Camps are available at two levels.

If your child is new to cycling or not a regular at a club or races then the beginner’s camps are for them. These offer the participant a chance to develop and become proficient at a range of core cycling and bike handling techniques that will prepare them for their first club session or race.

If your child has experience of racing and is a Go-Ride Club regular then there are advanced camps. There will be the chance to improve on the skills developed at their club as well as look at techniques across disciplines that will progress your child to the next level of their cycling journey.

Advanced Holiday Session

Level - Advanced, for riders who attend club sessions and/or race

Suitable for - 8-14 year olds with a reasonable level of fitness, who are members of cycling clubs and/or race

Duration: 10.30am – 3pm


What to expect

10.30am – 1.00pm
A Road Cycling session on the track with a mid-morning break.

You can expect to practice some or all of the road race skills below during the session:

  • Group riding
  • Following a wheel
  • Race starts
  • Sprints
  • Attacks and counter attacks

You’ll also get to take part in some race scenarios to put your skills in to context.

1.00- 2pm
Lunch break. Please bring a packed lunch or money to buy lunch from the café.

2 - 3pm
An indoor workshop (content TBC)

About the Event

Info for Riders

All riders are required to:

  • Strongly consider becoming a British Cycling Member https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/membership 
  • Sign-on and be ready 10 minutes prior to start of the session.
  • Bring a freewheel bike (a road or cyclocross bike with road tyres is best) in good working order with two functioning brakes. Anyone with a bike considered unsafe will not be allowed to take part.
  • Wear a helmet at all times whilst on the bike.
  • Wear gloves. 
  • Dress appropriately for the weather conditions and bring spare layers (including waterproofs).
  • Bring a change of comfortable clothes and trainers to wear during the workshop session.
  • Bring a packed lunch (or money for lunch from the cafe), drinks/snacks for the duration of the  practical session.
  • Fill out a consent form and return to organiser ahead of the session via email. Please use attached form.
