The 2019 HHCC Bovingdon Bomber Criterium Series # 5

Closed Circuit , Hemel Hempstead – Tuesday, 04 Jun 2019

Event Summary

Event Overview

RACING AT THE BOMBER 2019 http://www.bovingdonbomber.com
The Hemel Hempstead Cycling Club (HHCC) run the Bovingdon Bomber Criterium series at its club track – the popular Bomber Circuit. The Bomber is a 1 kilometre long super smooth and grippy purpose built racing circuit. It is fast, hard, sweeping, flat and technical and produces good safe racing.

THE 2019 SEASON - SEPARATE MENS AND WOMENS RACING ON TUESDAY EVENINGS.
We continue to run separate mens and womens races every week and Tuesday evenings is our new race night as we can get into the venue a little earlier allowing us more time to get the circuit ready and gives the men more time to sign on and get warmed up. We have also found 10 mins for the women to warm up on the circuit before their race (although there is a plenty of space elsewhere at the venue to warm up prior to this). Sign on closes 10 minutes before each race.

TIMETABLE
6.00pm Arrive & Sign on (strictly no earlier than 6pm please)
6.10pm Circuit opens
7.00pm - 7.45pm Mens Race (40 mins+ 5 laps, sign on closes 6.50pm)
7.45pm Womens warm up
7.55pm Womens Race (40 mins+ 5 laps, sign on closes 7.45pm)

TO REPEAT ....STRICTLY NO ENTRY TO THE SITE BEFORE 6pm

FOURTEEN ROUNDS - 7th MAY TILL 6th AUGUST 2019.
We are adding two rounds to the calendar this year so will be hosting races every Tuesday evening from 7th May through to 6th August comprising 14 rounds and every eveing will follow the same schedule with a mens race followed by a womens race each week. The races will alternate weekly with a categoy 3/4 & W3/4 on week 1 then a category 2/3 & W2/3/4 on week 2 then repeat. All races are Regional C+ events with full BC points. Bomber points are also awarded at every race and count towards the overall Sam Williamson King & Queen of the Bomber trophy.

SPRINT PRIMES - MONEY & BOMBER POINTS TO BE WON.
For the 2019 season we are introducing one sprint prime lap at anytime during each race except the first and final 5 laps. The start of the sprint lap will be signalled by a long whistle on the line and the end of the lap by a waved white flag. That is the start of the single sprint lap. The winner of the sprint prime will win a £10 voucher from local shops Lovelo (men) or Complete Outdoors (women) and crucially 3 Bomber points to count towards the overall King or Queen score. As in the grand tours, 2nd and 3rd places will score 2 and 1 point(s) respectively. Sprint points will simply be added to race points for each round so if you win the sprint prime (3 points) and finish 3rd overall (10 points) you score 13 points.

We are pleased to have local shop and racing club Lovelo Cycle Works supporting our series again this season along with new sponsors Complete Outdoors based in Bourne End (between Hemel Hempstead and Berkhamsted). They will be sponsoring the mens and womens sprint primes by garmishing the winners with a £10 voucher to spend in the shop.

THE 'SAM WILLIAMSON KING & QUEEN OF THE BOMBER' SEASON LONG TROPHY.
This is the season long award where riders finishing in the top ten score Bomber points towards their final score. With at least 7 races available to all riders, your BEST 6 results will count this year. There is no minimum races to qualify for the overall.

Our friends at the Driving Experience and Motorsport Academy DRIFT LIMITS are generously supporting the Sam Williamson Trophy by adding an MX5 Drift Experience to the prize pot for the King and Queen at the end of the season >>> Driftlimits
