RIDE our popular High Peak homage to the oldest and hardest monument of them all Liege-Bastogne-Liege and then watch the pro race on a big screen.
Dramatic, high peakland scenery, hidden lanes and memorable climbs, our climber's classic ride is a tough day out in the same vein as the Ardennes monument it emulates. Return to the HQ by 14:30 and you'll be able to watch the last hour of the Liege-Bastogne-Liege men's race. HQ closes: 16:30. Sheffield-Buxton-Sheffield is a non-competitive ride with a friendly atmosphere run by local cycling organisers which proved highly popular last year.

"Take a map of the area between Sheffield and the High Peak, throw a dart at it, and you'll hit a hill." Simon Warren (100 Climbs).

The full route takes you up at least TEN climbs including: Monsal Head, Mam Tor (Mam Nick from the south), Stanage and Abney (the shorter route has five big climbs but does not include Monsal Head). Many of the climbs are our own personal favourites and some you may never have tackled before.

NB. The routes will NOT be signposted; you will be following a GPS file and/or a printed route sheet.

With the kind support of: Bike Repair Sheffield, Summat Sports, 100 Cycling Climbs (Simon Warren), Yomp Bonk Crew, Cycling Sheffield, Scarsbrook-Art.com, Cyclocrossrider.com and British Cycling.

Key Climbs (there are more) on the longest route include:

  • Stanage Edge 6.75km / 310m climb ave 3.4% (max 13.6%).
  • Abney Moor 6.9km / 256m climb ave 3.5% (max 9.7%).
  • Mam Tor 1.1km / 62m climb ave 4.3% (max 9.4%).
  • Monsal Head 0.4km / 60m climb ave 13.5% (max 16.3%).

You'll ride short sections of what Band of Climbers chose as the "Toughest 100km in the UK."

British Cycling Grading:

Long route: 'Hard' 4/5 difficulty. Medium: 'Difficult' 3/5 difficulty. Short: 'Challenging' 2/5 difficulty.

WHAT RIDERS SAID ABOUT S-B-S 2022:

"Superb. The route was very well chosen: challenging certainly, but lots of mostly traffic-free sections and incredible views." "Cracking route. Add to that a good mate and cake at the end in front of Liege-Bastogne-Liege made a great day on the push irons."
