We're delighted to run the full 2023 series at this favourite venue and super-pleased to be working once again with MAAP to present the south-east’s most popular evening racing series as MAAP London Summercross.

Friday night at a classic venue with a licensed bar, with food and cycling-based entertainment surely makes a winning way to start those summer weekends. Last year was really good, so let's make 2023 even better!

Held in one of the UK’s cultural cycling centres – the iconic Herne Hill Velodrome – and running Friday nights through July - August from 6-10 pm, the series is a great chance for newcomers and experienced racers alike to hone their cyclocross skills, boost their fitness and catch up with friends in this welcoming community. We skip the 21st July because Herne Hill has an international track meeting.

A message from MAAP:

MAAP believes in always leading from the front and propelling the sport forward, and the iconic Herne Hill velodrome ‘cross is a perfect way of demonstrating our commitment to the next generation.

The in-field party vibe, bunny-hoppable barriers and infamous ‘Big Bob’ climb (which we’ve heard about all the way from Melbourne, Australia), made the London Summercross the dream event for us to partner.

Committed to supporting grassroots cycling and local cycling communities, the partnership between MAAP and the Beastway series will create an accessible, sustainable and welcoming racing environment for cyclists and spectators, showcasing the many benefits of pedal power.

Whatever your level, sign up for the races today and experience this unique atmosphere and the thrill of racing for yourself.

______________________

We resolved the Herne Hill race capacity issue by adding a whole separate race for the Veteran Men.
Women's racing is the main event with the senior / junior men and each have their own start to know who's in the race. The 45-minute race duration neatly edits the race to take out that bit where it's all settled down until you start your last lap hurry-up to make things more fun.

Entry closes on Wednesday evening before each race on Friday.

Do come by bike. There is NO ON-SITE PARKING unless you are a concession with a permit

Please do not arrive before 17.30. Course does not open until 18.00, when it is set-up for the u12 race.

** NO ENTRY ON THE DAY **     **ENTRY OPENS 1 MAY**

Sign-on and race results is being run by Beastway Timing, using its chips and software. Chips are on your number to mount on your seatpin and saddle rails using the tabs we provide. No zip-ties please.
Keep hold of all the numbers in your rider pack for all races in the series. Penalties apply for lost numbers to be replaced, so don't forget, and keep your number with your kitbag. We would like you to return your number board when the series is done.

Results will be published at https://www.maapsummercross.co.uk/ and a write up will be on the blog

There will be time for a sighting and practice lap which takes riders to the start of each race. These are OneBike races and there shall be no gridding. Riders are not permitted to ‘hang’ near the start and may be bumped to the back where there is always a space for them. The grid is only accessible by taking the sighting lap.

OneBike means no spares laying course-side, no pits and no repairs with outside assistance. If you can race with any repair materials, you are welcome to use them in case of need. The intention of this rule (8.1.2) is to simplify non-ranking events for all riders, but especially for those coming new to the sport. Please respect the rule. We remind you that racing is fun.

AGE CATEGORIES are taken from your age on 1 Sept 2020 - 31 Aug 2023. You will be re-allocated if you select the wrong age group. See BC Regulations page 7 for full info

Places are limited and very sought after. Your entry is not transferable. Entry closes on Wednesday evening before each race on Friday but may sell out well before.
