Malvern Cycle Sport Go-Ride Race September

Event Overview

This is a community organised, grass roots racing event, open to all riders but absolutely perfect for those new to competitive off-road cycling.  A friendly, welcoming atmosphere awaits, and spectators are welcome (though bring a chair!). The ‘Junior Race Skills and Fun Ride’ session is coach led by our fantastic volunteer coaching team and is aimed at younger riders who can already ride a bike but are looking to develop their off-road skills maybe ready for future racing.  For the two races, riders will race over a mix of woodland and meadow trails.  The course will change slightly for each round but will be designed with an XC mountain bike in mind (though it should also be fine on a gravel bike or CX bike).  Please note the course for the Junior Race will be shorter and flatter than the course for the Open Race.  The Open Race is aimed at older juniors and senior riders but is open to the more experienced (and competitive) junior riders aged 12 and over.

In both races, each racer will be issued an ankle timing chip so that lap times and results can be shared after the event; please note that in the very unlikely event of a technology failure, we will not be able to issue you with lap numbers or timings. The course is open for practice for 8-13 year olds only from 9.45-10.15, the course is open for practice for 14 yr old+ only from 10.45-11.15. This venue is on private land and is only open for use during race times; any use outside of these times may jeopardise future events. For each round, prizes will be issued to the winners in the following categories: 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-15,16-17, 18+ Riders will also be allocated points in each round and an overall series ranking (and prize for the winners) will be given to those riders who have competed in at least three of the four events in the series.

In the event of very wet weather, please note that this event may be cancelled at short notice if the parking is unusable.  Parking is open from 5pm; please follow signs, and directions given by marshals, for parking.
