Jayfest Uplift Weekend

MTB Uplift Day , Innerleithen – Saturday, 15 Jun 2013

Event Summary

Event Overview

A two day Downhill race with uplift, with the emphasis on coaching and introducing new riders to the sport, in memory of our friend Jaymie Mart. Jaymie Mart was a highly accomplished and successful downhill mountain biker, winning the Scottish Series seven times, and gaining a silver medal at the World Championships.  She was also a highly successful business woman offering much needed nutritional services to the athletic world, but more importantly she was an active and truly vibrant personality who loved to get out and celebrate life as often, and as loudly as she could.

Jayfest aims to celebrate her life which sadly and tragically came to an abrupt end in 2012. In celebration of her life and of her many many successes, it will offer a new, exciting and unique downhill event to the mountain biking calendar in the beautiful Scottish town of Innerleithen.

You'll find an invigorating combination of downhill racing events for riders of all ages and abilities from the young'uns just starting out in the saddle, through those who've fancied it for years but never tried, to the real world class pros and those who've had no fear for more years than they care to remember!  You'll also find local and national traders selling the finest foods and artistic products in this stunning setting, together with a music festival bringing an eclectic mix of live music and DJ's to Innerleithen, a part of Scotland not known to many, but adored by those who do.

The Foundation is the financial backbone to this event, and aims to provide two young riders who are able to demonstrate huge promise in the world of downhilling with a means tested grant. It is important to the Foundation to support and nurture new and emerging talent at a grass roots level.  This grant will provide them with a degree of financial support, to ensure that they continue to flourish and achieve as the world class athletes they aspire to be.

Both the Foundation and the festival are about family and about community.  They're about about bringing people together, having the best times and creating great memories to share forever.

More info coming soon! We look forward to seeing you at Jayfest!
