Ed's Profile
One of the most recent additions to the Great Britain Cycling Team Podium Potential Programme, Lincolnshire-born Ed Lowe has quickly made an impact with his presence in the squad, being selected as part of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games squad at just 20 years old.
Growing up in Stamford in Lincolnshire, Lowe’s first experience of cycling came through the Fenland Clarion Cycling Club, where he developed a love of cycling.
One of the youngest members of the sprint podium programme, Lowe took part in his first elite level World Cup in Milton, Canada in 2023, alongside Harry Ledingham-Horn and Hayden Norris. The team secured a bronze medal, ahead of the home team.
In 2024, Lowe has been drafted into the team for two UCI Track World Cup rounds and has helped them to medals on both occasions. In Adelaide, Australia, the team of Lowe, Jack Carlin and Hamish Turnbull won bronze, beating China in the bronze-medal race. Most recently, the trio went one better in Milton, Canada, making it to the final where they just lost out to the ever-dominant Dutch. They took home a silver medal for their efforts, a significant achievement and a major confidence boost for Lowe ahead of the crucial selection decision for Paris.
After securing one of the sought after sports on the Olympic team, the Games themselves proved a success for Lowe and his team sprint teammates Jack Carlin and Hamish Turnbull, who flew through the team sprint qualifying rounds to face an unstoppable Dutch team in the gold medal final. Three fantastic individual laps delivered a national record time of 41.814, to see them take an incredible silver medal.
