Jude's Profile

Growing up in Leicestershire, Jones began doing tricks on his bike from the age of four when his dad first took him to try out the jumps at Chicksands Bike Park in Bedfordshire, and he became addicted to the thrill and risk of riding his bike. He was given his first BMX bike aged eight, and never looked back.

Later, he was lucky enough to have access to legendary indoor skatepark Adrenaline Alley in Northamptonshire, where he now trains alongside his Great Britain teammates.

A creative, imaginative and bold rider, Jones worked as a bricklayer and at 21, would juggle work and training, heading straight to the skate park after full days on the building site. In 2022, Jones recorded his biggest result when he left work on the Friday and was crowned British champion by the end of the weekend, beating a range of other Olympic hopefuls, including Kieran Reilly, at Adrenaline Alley in Northants. This success led him to pursuing his BMX full time and he would soon become part of the Great Britian Cycling Team.

Jones is also known for riding ‘goofy’ - leading with his right foot instead of his left, meaning that his routines look radically different from those of his rivals. In 2023, following a period of focused training alongside his GBCT teammates, Jones tasted international success, posting the best score of 94.33 among a strong field at the Madrid Urban Sports contest to beat rivals that included Olympic silver medallist Daniel Dhers, who was fifth.

In 2024, Jones featured in the Olympic Qualifier Series where he finished seventh overall, just outside the top six who qualified directly for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Jones is certainly one to watch for the future, and will be targeting the 2028 LA Olympic Games.
