Visually impaired para-cyclist and triple world champion on the track, Lizzi Jordan took home a gold medal in her Paralympic debut at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, alongside pilot Danni Khan, just two years after joining GBCT.

Left without her sight following a severe e-coli infection as a teenager which saw her spend two months in a coma, Jordan had to re-learn how to walk as part of her long recovery from the disease. Her drive and determination for physical challenges were in evidence as she completed the 2019 London Marathon just 18 months later. 

Following this impressive achievement, British Cycling invited Jordan to a talent identification day, and they saw enough potential in the Guildford native to invite her to join their para-cycling foundation team, where she began training and developing towards a potential future in elite level competitive para-cycling.

Jordan rides with the Charlotteville Cycling Club at home in Guildford when she isn’t training with the Great Britain squad in Manchester. In 2022, she was paired with experienced pilot Corrine Hall, achieving an impressive silver medal on her debut at a UCI Para-Track World Championships, in the individual pursuit. 

The two remained together for the early part of the 2023 season, achieving strong results at the UCI Para-cycling Road World Cups in Maniago, Italy and Ostend, Belgium, with bronze in the time-trial and road race in Maniago and the time-trial in Ostend. 

Heading to the multi-discipline world championships in Scotland during the summer, Jordan was paired with pilot Amy Cole on the track, and the two began with the individual pursuit, finishing in sixth position overall. Next up was the 1km time-trial or ‘kilo’ event in which they narrowly missed out on making the final – they were able to win their bronze medal race however, clinching third place in the Sir Chris Hoy velodrome. They qualified in eighth position for the sprint event and improved on that in their second race, finishing in seventh place overall. Jordan also competed on the road with Hall, achieving fourth place in the time-trial and ninth in the road race.

The Paralympic year got off to a dream start for Jordan. Paired with new pilot Danni Khan, she rode to an incredible triple gold at the UCI Para-Track World Championships in Rio. The pair won all three of their events; the individual pursuit, kilo and sprint.

Heading to the Paralympic Games in fine form, Jordan and Khan kicked off proceedings on the track in fine style, taking Paralympic gold in the women’s tandem 1km time-trial, a sensational result for such a new pairing.
