British Cycling’s Go-Ride programme is hosting a coaching session for disabled riders at Tameside closed road circuit on Saturday 20 September, to help find our future cycling stars.

The Rider Development Session for para-cycling is the first in a series at Tameside circuit, extending the existing provision of quality, structured coaching for disabled riders.

The sessions will provide an opportunity for riders to get involved with cycle sport, helping them to keep fit, have fun and improve performance through coaching and support from British Cycling Go-Ride coaches. Both new riders and experienced cyclists are invited to attend the session, which begins at 11am and is open to disabled riders that reflect the para-cycling classifications – please find out more here.

British Cycling has a fleet of two-wheeled bikes available for participants to borrow. Riders are also welcome to bring their own equipment, such as handcycles, tandems or trikes, to take part in the session.

British Cycling’s Go-Ride programme is the first step on the Performance Pathway – over 60% of riders on the Great Britain Cycling Team started out at Go-Ride clubs. Sophie Thornhill progressed from Eastlands Velo Go-Ride club. Speaking about cycling on the track, Sophie said: “It’s really enjoyable, you go really quick and that adrenaline rush is really amazing. It inspires you to ride more, you just fall in love with it.”
