A professional fit isn’t just about speed or performance, it’s also about helping every rider feel confident, pain-free and supported on the bike
The Bike Fitters work with cyclists of all ages, disciplines and abilities, including those with reduced mobility due to injury, surgery or long-term conditions.
Hear from their experts with four case studies of riders they have worked with:
Post-knee replacement
This client came to us several months after undergoing a full knee replacement. Although they’d been cleared to ride again, they were struggling with slight pain and stiffness on the bike, especially during climbs or longer sessions.
We assessed their range of motion and made a number of adjustments:
- Reduced crank length to accommodate limited flexion in the new joint
- Modified saddle position to reduce pressure and improve alignment
- Adjusted cleat setup and float to allow for a more natural pedalling motion without strain
The result was a setup that allowed them to build confidence and strength steadily, without aggravating the joint. They’re now back to enjoying regular 50km rides.

Rider with scoliosis
A long-time rider with moderate scoliosis came to us complaining of uneven pressure distribution, recurring back pain and discomfort through one hip. Their spine curvature meant a traditional symmetrical setup simply wasn’t working.
We used a combination of:
- Custom insole and shim support for pelvic alignment
- A slight saddle tilt and bar reach adjustment to reduce spinal torsion
- Careful monitoring of symmetry during the fit process to identify compensations
By embracing asymmetry instead of fighting it, we helped this rider find a position that supported their unique anatomy, resulting in far greater comfort and far fewer post-ride niggles.
Cyclist with limited wrist mobility after surgery
This rider had suffered a complex fracture in their left wrist from a fall, followed by surgical pinning and plating. Even after healing, they had limited range of motion, particularly with wrist extension and grip strength. On their current setup, they felt unstable and experienced numbness in the hand during rides.
We worked closely to:
- Adjust handlebar shape and rotation for a more neutral wrist angle
- Raise the front end of the bike to reduce pressure on the wrists
- Explore grip and glove options to enhance comfort and control
These relatively small changes made a massive difference, restoring their confidence on descents and allowing them to ride without discomfort or numbness.
Postpartum rider returning to cycling
This rider reached out after giving birth six months earlier. Although she had been cleared by her GP, she was experiencing discomfort around the pelvis and lower back during short rides and lacked confidence getting back into a consistent routine. Her body had changed and her previous bike setup no longer felt right.
We took a gentle, supportive approach:
- Assessed core stability and pelvic alignment before making any changes
- Adjusted saddle type and angle to reduce pressure on sensitive areas
- Made minor changes to reach and bar height to accommodate reduced core strength and altered posture
The result was a setup that felt safe, empowering and sustainable. She’s now riding again weekly, rebuilding strength and using her bike as a form of self-care.
