Danny Hart took a great third place and bronze medal in the Junior Downhill World Championships behind New Zealander Brook Macdonald and Australian Shaun Connor. With three Brits in the top six it was a great show of upcoming UK talent.
Brits Danny Hart and Bernard Kerr turned in two great times in the Junior men's downhill - however only one would be good enough for a medal - and unfortunately neither time would be good enough for a third consecutive Junior British World Downhill Champion in three years.
Danny Hart - currently the leader in the Mountain Bike World Cup Junior standings was overhauled by New Zealander Brook Macdonald who won the race in 2.36.49 and Australian Shaun O'Connor who took the silver 1.18 seconds down. Those time gaps are far bigger than everyone predicted on a course said to produce very close racing.
The biggest story however was of Hart though. He had the fastest split of the top three by one second, but lost out bigtime in the lower section, eventually taking bronze 2.27 seconds back.
Bernard Kerr had a similar experience - suffering in the bottom section but still getting fifth at 3.84 seconds down.
Despite not taking a jersey, the British team had three riders in the top six - Harry Heath in sixth, Aaran Gannicott 12th, Gareth Brewin 14th.
