Report: UCI Marathon World Championships
Bigham top ten again, Nussli top twenty
Posted August 8 2010
Sally Bigham has posted her second top ten result at the Marathon World Championships in two years, this time in St. Wendel, Germany. The race - won by Esther Suss (SWI) - lasted over four hours and for Bigham marked a significant return to form.
Finishing eighth, Bigham rode in ten minutes off of Suss and eight minutes down on second placed Olympic Cross Country champion Sabine Spitz.
This was a significant result, since finishing as runner up in the Cape Epic, Bigham has battled against injury with significant rehabilitation taking place during high season hardly constructive toward World Championship success.
The second British rider in the World Championship lineup was Jane Nussli - fifteen minutes down in fifteenth place.
