British Cycling is pleased to announce the dates and venues for the 2024 national four cross calendar, with 10 national series rounds, the national championships, and the dual slalom championships returning to the Malverns Classic Festival.
The opening two rounds of the National Four Cross Series once again take place in Bedfordshire at Chicksands BikePark over the weekend of 6-7 April, before heading to Afan in South Wales on 1-2 June – a staple on the four cross calendar.
Riders will be raring to race at the famous Shredhill in Gloucestershire for the fifth and sixth rounds on 27-28 July, before travelling to Falmouth in Cornwall. The 2022 national championship hosts will be the venue for the seventh and eighth rounds over the weekend of 10-11 August.
The national series winners will then be crowned over 28-29 September at Twisted Oaks in Ipswich, who successfully hosted the final round of the 2023 series where Jessica Taylor and Scott Beaumont were crowned the elite winners.
The riders will also be competing at the national championships, hosted as part of the Malverns Classic Festival in Eastnor Deer Park, over 23-25 August. Last year saw the first ever Dual Slalom National Championships take place, and it will be returning to the festival on Friday 23 August, before the National Four Cross Championships on Sunday 25 August.
After competing in four cross since the very first national championships in Worcester in 2003, Scott Beaumont has changed his focus from racing to organising, taking over as the series organiser for the 2024 season.
The 11-time national champion said:
“After competing in the National Four Cross Series since the very first event in 2003, the opportunity came up to become the organiser of the series and it was too good an opportunity to pass on. I am really excited to use all my years of experience inside the tape to build the experience for everyone at the National Four Cross Series in 2024 and beyond. I believe four cross is the best mountain bike sport in the world and I am excited to showcase the sport to a much wider audience in 2024.
“Thank you to British Cycling for their belief in my plans and their support for four cross. Thank you to Schwalbe for their continued title sponsorship. Surf and Turf will be supplying all our promotional materials at the events and Ultimate USE for supporting the whole series with custom made trophies. We are also thrilled to announce that the series will now operate using Squorz making it much easier for riders to follow race numbers and overall series points.”
