Finlay Graham, Sophie Unwin and Jenny Holl amongst national para-cycling champions at the Lloyds Bank National Disability and Para-cycling Road Championships in the time-trial and road races at Darley Moor over the weekend.

Paralympic champion Fin Graham put down a blistering time of 34:09.29 to take the open C3 time-trial win, before storming to the road race win the next day. Jacob Smith and Ben Hetherington took silver and bronze in both events, respectively.

Millie Cass won the women’s C1-5 time-trial, storming to the victory on a factored time of 27:38.46 ahead of Katie Toft and Rebecca Newark. Newark looked for redemption in the road race, giving the open riders a run for their money in the first few laps of the race by putting in a huge effort, and taking the C1-5 win. Cass came home second ahead of Elisabeth Simpson.

Cass said: "It’s always great to race at a national championships and to retain my TT title is even better!

"Limitless has continued to provide lots of opportunities to race, even in a Paralympic year, with everybody preparing for the big one."

The open C2 road race saw Matthew Robertson cross the line first ahead of Rik Waddon and Callum Deboys, while Ben Payne was victorious in the C4 road race ahead of Nicholas Fairfield and Sajjad Meghjee.

In the open C5 time-trial, Chris Scott secured the win ahead of Will Bjergfelt and Xavier Disley. Bjergfelt was hungry for a win though, and came out swinging in Sunday’s road race to take the national title ahead of Alex Jones and Sam Davies.

The tandems saw Sophie Unwin and Jenny Holl take back-to-back wins ahead of Rachael Elliot and Miriam Jesset in both the road race and the time-trial.

Christopher Wilkins and Henry Latimer upgraded their silver time-trial medal to gold in the road race, putting in a brave move to pull ahead for most of the race. The time-trial gold medallists Chris McDonald and Adam Duggleby chased for most of the race, but it all came down to a thrilling sprint finish on the last lap, in which Wilkins and Latimer launched themselves over the line to take the win.

Calum O’Neill had a fantastic weekend in the open trike category, winning the time-trial and the road race to get his first national jersey in both event. O’Neill took the victories ahead of Felix Barrow, who took home the silver medals.

James Coxon took double recumbent wins ahead of James Hubbard in the time-trial and road race. Johnathan Knott also claimed bronze in the road race.

Alex Brooke-Turner won the open H4 time-trial, clocking a time 27:38.94 to secure the title ahead of Callum Russell and Mark Allen, before Russell went on to win the open H3-4 road race ahead of Luke Jones – winner of the H3 time-trial – and Allen.  Marina Logocheva won both events in the women’s H2 category.
