The final round of the Lloyds Bank National Disability and Para-cycling Series took place this past weekend at the York Sports Village, marking the conclusion of a thrilling season that saw six rounds of competitive racing.

Over the course of the series, 281 entries were made, with 64 riders competing, including 25 new to the sport. The series showcased representation across 20 different sport classes, highlighting the diversity and talent in British para-cycling.

Criterium

The final round featured gripping races in multiple categories. Selvie Krishna and Eve Hauge, one of the new tandems from the Talent ID events in August, dominated the women’s tandem race to claim victory.

Chris Wilkins and Henry Latimer took the top spot in the open tandem race, fending off strong challenges from the debut tandems of Joshua Matten and Tom Cullen and Ashley Sarginson and Josh Dunham, who finished second and third respectively.

Calum O’Neil continued his strong form with another dominant win in the Open Tricycle category.

The Open C4-5 race saw a thrilling battle between Sam Davies, Chris Scott, and Finlay Webb, who fought for both the race win and overall series positions. Despite strong efforts from the chasing group, the trio held on, with Davies taking the win and series title in a sprint finish.

Time-Trial

The final time-trial of the series proved to be an intense competition, with riders pushing themselves to the limit in pursuit of fast times. Mark Valentine delivered the standout solo performance of the day, setting the fastest time of 14:20 in the open C4-5 category, but it wasn’t quite enough to get into the overall series podium, finishing in fourth place.

However, it was Chris Wilkins and Henry Latimer who set the quickest overall time, completing the course in an impressive 14:02 in the open tandem race, showing exceptional coordination and power. Their remarkable ride not only earned them the top spot in the tandem event but also marked one of the fastest times across all categories, and the overall series title.
