Britain's Future Stars Head to County Durham

The 2011 National Junior Men's Road Race Championships are to be held in, County Durham on two rolling circuits around Barnard Castle. The Championships have been brought to the North East region by County Durham County Council, British Cycling North East and local clubs.
The North East is fast becoming the centre of National Championships with the Senior Men and Women in Northumbria followed closely by the MTB Cross Country Championships near Richmond in July.

Preview: Men
A field of 86 riders including top ranking contenders will line up in Barnard Castle on Sunday 3rd July, the race rolls out of Bowes Museum at 12.00. The course is made up of a 27km loop heading out to Whorlton, then Staindrop retuning to Barnard Castle via Marwood, after three laps the race switches to a 13km finishing loop, which also passes through Whorlton onto Darlington Road returning into Barnard Castle for the finale.
The best spectator spots are likely to be in Barnard Castle, Horse Market and the climb out of Whorlton the race will pass six times.
It is one of the most eagerly awaited races of the year in the Junior calendar which will lead to some exciting fast racing. Past riders include Mark Cavandish and Geraint Thomas.
