Jamieson Wins Steve Taylor Memorial
Castlemorton, Worcestershire
Promoted by: Gloucester City CC
Event: 2nd July 2011
Report: Snowdon Sports
DUNCAN Jamieson (Leisure Lakes RT) proved the strongest rider in a 12-strong break which dominated the Steve Taylor Memorial Road Race in Worcestershire on Sunday.
Excellent weather greeted a full field for the 2/3/4 category race, promoted annually by Gloucester City Cycle Club.
The race proved to be very quick and covered six laps of an undulating course which led to a break of a dozen riders on the second circuit who held a slender lead of around 20 seconds over the chasing peloton.
Chasing riders - and the fast pace - caused the break to split further and on the final lung-busting climb of the Holly Bush to the finish, Jamieson broke free to win by four seconds from Matthew Ullmer (Team Qoroz) and Simon Healey (Andover Wheelers).
The rest of the field had been completed spread out by this tough final climb and finished in small groups.
