MOTORPOINT professional Tobyn Horton soloed to victory at the end of the BBM Bikes Elite Road Race, promoted by Sportscover on a 14-mile circuit at Epworth, Lincolnshire, on Sunday.
Horton, originally from Guernsey, was part of an eight-rider break which attacked early in the race on the first of five laps of the circuit, taking advantage of good conditions which saw only a light breeze waft over a largely sunny and dry course.
They quickly established a good gap over the bunch, but with three Motorpoint riders and three Sportscover riders in the mix, the fate of the race was far from decided.
Three more riders clipped off the front of the bunch and chased down the escapees, and they nearly made contact on the third lap, but their efforts proved in vain as the leaders upped the pace and the challengers dropped back to the bunch.
Shortly after the bell, Horton decided to go it alone and attacked the rest of the breakaway riders, gradually pulling away and gaining around 25 seconds as he crossed the line. Herbalife-Wheelbase rider Dillon Byrne won the sprint for second, leaving the promoting club to settle for third spot with Tom Bustard (Sportscover).
