Sprinting clear of his breakaway rivals, Lee Staples (GS Avanti) won Round 22 of the South East Road Race League at the Fowlmead circuit in Kent on Sunday.
Staples, 38 and from Orpington, edged ahead of rival Jon Lyons (GS Invicta), while Twickenham CC's Declan Higgins was third.
Breaks had been going throughout the race, but nothing managed to stick for more than a lap or so before the bunch chased them down.
But on the last of 19 laps of the circuit, the decisive move came, and Staples, Lyons and Higgins managed to get a gap of around a minute in the final three-kilometre circuit, while Ciaran O'Grady (Team Toachim) led in the chasers.
Slightly windy but dry conditions greeted the 33 riders, of which 31 finished.
The series now moves on to Redbridge circuit in London next weekend for round 23.
