Joe Evans of Velocity RT took first place in the under 16 category at the first round of the Solihull Cycling Club Youth Series on Saturday.
The 15-year-old Uttoxeter rider got off to the perfect start of the series with Wolverhampton Wheelers duo Ryan Phillips and James Ireson completing the top three.
In the second race of the under 16s, it was Joe Evans who once again finished first with Jack Escritt of Fred Williams Cycls and Jacob Kelly of Lichfield CC coming second and third respectively.
Lucy Shaw of Solihull CC was first home in the first race for the under 16 girls but was pushed down into second place by team-mate Natalie Clements in race two.
Tomos Owens of Brooks Cycles was quickest in both of the Under 14 races. In the first race, Alfie Mortimer of Mid-Shropshire Wheelers came second with Oliver Peckover of Nottinghamshire Clarion CC in third.
Joshua Waters (Mercia HBM CC) was second in the second race, with Peckover again finishing third. Both under 14 girls races finished with the same top three of Sophie Capewell (Lichfield City CC), Georgia Hilleard (Wolverhampton Wheelers CC) and Chloe Ralph (Redditch).
In the first under 12 boys race, Matt Shaw of Solihull CC came in first with Matthew Lewis (Wolverhampton Wheelers CC) in second and Daniel Gibson (Liverpool Century) third. The second race has the same result.
The under 12 girls also had the same result in both races with Lorna Sharples of Halesowen ACC winning with Amelia Reynolds, also of Halesowen, in second.
Both under 10 boys races had identical podiums with Jack Rootkin-Gray of Solihull CC in first, Daniel Barnes of Lichfield City CC in second and Elliott Waters of Mercia CC third. The girls races saw Josie Nelson of Halesowen CC take two wins with Piper Radford of Sherwood Pines CC in second.
Finally, Joshua Tarling (Towie Riders) and Joss Candon (Halesowen CC) were the one-two of both under 8 boys races. In race one, Luke Richardson of Redditch CC came third and in race two, he was replaced by Luke Harris of Halesowen CC. Cerys Simmonds of Stratford CC won both under 8 girls races.
