Location: Birdsedge, Huddersfield
Event: 3 June 2012
Report: Snowdon Sports

Out in front from the second lap, Nick Coupland (We Love Mountains RT) outsprinted breakaway companion Jonathan Wolff (Sheffrec CC) to win Huddersfield Star Wheelers’ Eric Biddulph Memorial road race in West Yorkshire.

Cold, wet and windy conditions prompted the organisers to cut the distance from eight to seven laps of the Birdsedge circuit, a distance of 40 miles, and there were no complaints as the weather took its toll on the field.

The two principals made their escape with six laps to go and were never headed, eventually finishing 45 seconds clear of 15 chasers with 34-year-old Coupland, from Brough, in East Yorkshire, coming out on top to register his first win of the season after a previous second and a third.
