On the way back from illness, Ian Wilkinson (Endura racing) beat the odds to win Sunday’s 76-mile round of the CDNW Road Race League in Cumbria in a five-up sprint.
Rapha Condor Sharp had three riders in the leading group, who rode away from the rest of the race to finish nine minutes clear, but 33-year-old Wilkinson, had the speed to beat them all and record his first victory a Tour de Normandie stage win in March.
Chris Jennings and Richard Handley filled the next two places for Rapha with Ben Greenwood (Vanillabikes.com) taking fourth spot and Mike Cuming fifth.
Robert Palmer (Stretford Wheelers CC) secured the first win of his comeback season after two years out in the supporting 52-mile race for third and fourth categories.
