Velo29 events have been in touch with details of their ever popular winter series, which makes its return to Croft motor racing circuit, Dalton on Tees, North Yorkshire on 26 January 2013 for the first of four rounds. Event organiser Richard Williamson gives us the lowdown...
Back for the third year, this popular series is a welcome break to the winter training or a great place to give racing a try.
There are two races each week, at 11am we have the Go-Race and 4th category event. The eight lap race (16 miles) is great for new comers to the sport as well as 4th cats, the fields are up to 75 some weeks! The racing soon spreads out which is great for less competitive riders who can slot into small groups and find their feet at bunch racing on safe closed roads.
At 12:15 there’s the E/1/2/3/4 race. It’s handicapped starting with about one minute intervals between each group. Again we are getting about 75 riders each week, 4th cats who entered the earlier race can ride the 2nd race for no additional cost, a great way to progress in your racing! The racing in this race is increasingly competitive with riders travelling from all over the UK to compete!
Both races are £15, you can enter online via the British Cycling system, postal or even on the day. Full details can be found at www.velo29events.com or email events@velo29.com
Velo29 are keen to help new people progress to racing so for any advice before or during the event, just drop the team an email.
There’s a prize presentation after each event, Cakes and refreshments are available in the covered paddock, there’s loads of parking and the site is easily accessible from the A1. The event is sponsored by Muc-Off cleaning products.
