Second in last year’s corresponding event, Andrew Clavell stepped up a place to win the opening round of the Surrey League Handicap Series on the Kitsmead Lane course.

Veterans filled the top six positions in the Charlotteville CC promotion with 45-year-old Clavell (Kingston Wheelers) securing his maiden road race victory at the main expense of Ray Healey (RT 316), back competing after a year’s break, and Graham Berridge (Pearson CC).
