Outsprinting three breakaway companions, Joshua Ruddiman (Huddersfield Star Wheelers) claimed his maiden road race victory in the 43-mile Nige Moore Memorial Road race over 20 laps of the Rock and Heifer circuit in West Yorkshire.

The 19-year-old Huddersfield triathlete, who is in his second season of road racing, got the better of Joshua Ferguson (Team Wheel Guru), also 19, in the charge for the line with 39-year-old Martin Russell (Airedale Chemical RT) – racing for the first time since 2004 – taking third place ahead of Jon Wilkinson (BBM Revolution CC).

The break went away just before the halfway prime, won by Russell, and the four worked well together to preserve a gap of around 45 seconds to the finish.

Ferguson won the primes on laps five and 15, and Steve Ayres became the inaugural holder of the Nige Moore Memorial Trophy as first VC Bradford finisher.
