Dan Gardner (Team ASL360) took his fourth victory of the season when he sprinted out of a break of three to clinch victory in Brighton.
Above: In the break in the cat 2/3 rac, from left to right:Jon Harris, David Seager and eventual winner Dan Gardner.
The breakaway including Gardner, Jon Harris (GS Avanti) and David Seager (San Fairy Ann CC), it escaped the bunch halfway through the 55 minute race and went on to lap the field.
Gardner outsprinted his breakaway companions to take victory and his first category licence whilst Harris took second and Seager came home third.
Despite an active race the third category event ended in a bunch sprint which ended up with riders swinging out wide and a crash brought down the hopes of many riders.
Luke Nolan, aged 27 and from Somerset, managed to avoid the crash and claimed victory by a bike length from Tom Kirk (I-Ride-UK) in second and Sam Davies in third.
In the fourth category race Duncan Mawhinney took the honours again with a clear sprint victory showing that he really should get a BC license and move up to the thirds.
Newbury’s Donal Linehan showed that fresh legs and a cagey approach can sometimes pay off by keeping his powder dry till the last corner in the veteran’s race to take the honours from Graeme Crow.
In the youth events there was a victory for Chris Jackson (Strada Sport) in the under-16 event whilst Isaac Warrington (Southdown Velo) won the under-12 event.
