With just under two months to go until the inaugural combined UCI Cycling World Championships, it is time to reveal details of the Race The Worlds finals, that will see youth riders race at World Championship venues.

As an Official Activation Partner of the World Championships, Scottish Cycling has launched Race The Worlds, a series of regional qualifiers, that gives youth riders the chance of qualifying to race at the World Championships this August. More on that here.

With August fast approaching, we are now able share details of the four Race The Worlds finals!

Mini Downhill

The first of four finals, Mini-Downhill will take place at the sport’s spiritual home in Scotland, the Nevis Range, long time home of the Fort William World Cup. Taking place on the morning of Friday 4th August, the Race the Worlds route will run adjacent to the World Championship course, with a finish line right in the heart of the event village! What’s more, podium finishers will climb onto the World Champs podium to receive their silverware before any of the elite’s have set foot on it!

Every rider who qualifies to ride the final will receive a complimentary ticket for the action that day, as well as one for a supervising adult.

Dirt Crit

Next up is the Dirt Crit final, taking place at iconic XC Racing venue, Glentress, on the morning of Sunday 6th August. On a purpose-built course in Glentress Forest, the youth action will take place during the Marathon event, with podium finishers once again getting to stand on the elite World Championship podium. This is a non-ticketed event, so bring the biggest cheer squad you can!

Road Crit

Next up is the road crit, taking place in Glasgow City Centre during the day on Monday 7th August.

The racing is set to be fast and furious with a 1.2km lap starting and finishing in George Square. Podium finishers will have their moment in George square, on the very same podium the elite men will have stood on just the day before! Again, this event is non-ticketed so bring your family and friends.

Pump Track

Last, but by no means least is the Pump Track Finals on Saturday 12th August. Taking place at Cathkin Braes, which has hosted MTB racing at both the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and the 2018 European Championships, the racing will take place on the Pump Track, as part of Glasgow Life’s Festival that celebrates the World Championships. There is sure to be a brilliant atmosphere, and once again this is a non-ticketed event, so everyone is welcome.

All four finals will give young racers the chance to experience what it’s like to race at a World Championships, with Race The Worlds medals and jerseys (more on that soon!) up for grabs.
