Carlos Riise (Shetland Wheelers) was fastest in the Neish-Low 25-mile TT in Aberdeenshire on Sunday.

The Lerwick-based rider, who is a spring chicken at the age of 47, clocked 55-30 to take the win in the event which was based at Fordoun.

Second-placed Steve Nutley, the 56-year-old Sandy Wallace Cycles rider from Fife, was 22 seconds slower, while another 47-year-old, Phil Kelman (Deeside Thistle) was third and completed a podium with a combined age of 150!

A mixed morning saw sunshine, sleet and rain greet the riders, but it did little to put them off.

Nutley also won the veteran on standard prize, beating his age standard by 13:11, while top woman was Riise’s team-mate at Shetland Wheelers Christine McLean, who clocked 1:00:41.

Ythan CC team-mates Zak Loney and Craig Ward went head to head in the youth category, with Loney narrowly taking the prize with 1-03-24, nine seconds quicker.
