Rob Friel (XCracer.com) came through a tough round two race to take his first win of the Scottish Cyclo-Cross League on Saturday.
After finishing third in the opening event at Callender Park, Friel pushed on well to take victory in the thick mud of Auchentoshan.
The course consisted of open grass sections and technical single track parts as well as two steep banks caked in mud.
This made for a difficult race with plenty of falls, mechanical problems and punctures. But Friel held off the competition to lead from the front and gradually build his lead.
By the final lap, the gap had become unassailable and the 31-year-old crossed the line around 30 seconds before David Lines down in second. The podium was rounded off by Colin May (VC Edinburgh).
