British Cycling is delighted to announce the launch of a revamped Lloyds Bank National Track Series for the 2025/26 season. The exciting new format incorporates an updated elite series for sprint, endurance and para-cycling, as well as an updated track offering with a revived summer series, grass track series, and youth and junior series.
Throughout the year, we have been consulting with event organisers, volunteers and riders to identify ways of reshaping the current National Track Series, and working together to assess how we can bolster, futureproof and reinvigorate our domestic track programme.
Following these consultations, our new track offering from 2025 will include six series and we are now inviting event organisers to tender applications to host events in this new track offering.
You can read more about hosting an event within the series here.
Elite national programme
Starting in October 2025, the Lloyds Bank National Track Series will be our updated series format, condensing the current calendar to provide an invigorating and concise build-up to the annual Lloyds Bank National Track Championships from 2026 onwards. Each Track Series round will host a national championship event that does not currently sit within the championship weekend of racing, and will include a series for sprint, endurance and para-cyclists. Three rounds will be hosted at indoor velodromes for each discipline, and we are now inviting event organisers to tender applications to host events in this series.
Summer track programme
Throughout the summer of 2025, we will also be bringing to life our outdoor velodromes through our Lloyds Bank National Summer Series as we look to revive our historic blue-ribbon events and provide club riders with the opportunity to automatically qualify for the Lloyds Bank National Track Championships from 2026 onwards. The Lloyds Bank National Grass Track Series will also be reinvigorated as part of the offering, with more information to follow.
Youth and junior national programme
The National Sprint Future Series will be a brand-new format for all youth and junior track sprinters to assist and expand our talent pathways, allowing these riders to have consistent, high-level races.
Our successful National Youth Omnium Series acts as a fantastic case study for how we can reinvent our domestic track programme. Therefore, the series will remain unchanged, with riders competing in four qualifying rounds in an attempt to qualify for the national final. The National Youth and Junior Championships will also continue as is.
We are now inviting event organisers to tender applications to host an event in the National Sprint Future Series.
Sport and Participation Director, Amy Gardner, said:
“We are delighted to be bringing this brand-new track offering to our riders, event organisers, volunteers and cycling fans across the country, and would like to thank all those involved for their invaluable advice in developing our sport.
“This new programme will support all track riders, from the elite side to grassroots, domestic and grass track, and it is vitally important that we make these changes to protect the longevity of our sport. We look forward to welcoming in a new era of domestic track racing in Britain.”
