Kieran Reilly and Sasha Pardoe were crowned the national champions at the Lloyds National BMX Freestyle Championships at Adrenaline Alley, while British riders stormed to wins at the opening round of the UCI Track Champions League.
Lloyds National BMX Freestyle Championships
World champion Kieran Reilly and European champion Sasha Pardoe were head and shoulders above the rest at the Lloyds National BMX Freestyle Championships, which also doubled up as the final round of the series.
Reilly and Pardoe both qualified first in the elite categories. Reilly’s run of tail whips, handlebar spins, front flips and his signature double flair was enough to score him 96.40 points in his second run to take win ahead of Jordan Clark and Reef Way.
Clark’s second place secured him the overall series win after a fantastic season with multiple podiums.
In the women’s elite park, Pardoe scored 92.40 points, showing her incredible skill to finish ahead of Elsa Rendall-Todd and Holly Pipe. Pardoe’s win in her European stripes also saw her take the series title for a second year running.
UCI Track Champions League: Paris
The 2024 UCI Track Champions League kicked off with a bang on Saturday, with three Brits taking the coveted blue leaders’ jersey in their respective categories.
Katie Archibald enjoyed a perfect opening night of the season, winning both the women’s scratch and elimination races to soar to the top of the women’s endurance standings, putting her in pole position to defend her title.
For Matthew Richardson, it was a stunning start, as he too claimed the maximum 40 points on offer in the men’s sprint competition by winning the sprint and keirin races – fending off Dutch rival Harrie Lavreysen.
Emma Finucane topped off a near-flawless night for Great Britain, topping the women’s sprint standings with victory in the sprint race and a second place in the keirin.
The riders will next compete in Apeldoorn on Friday for the second round.
