2010 European Masters Track Championships
July 27 - 31 2010 | Manchester Velodrome |
Day 2
The days highlight was undoubtably the Men's 40-44 and 45-49 Sprint competitons as France's Achen Aggar won a hard fought Gold over John McClelland and Philipe Vernet, also of France clinched the Gold over John Saysell of Great Britain as both finals went to three rides.
Despite the fact that the low entry in the Womens 35-39 500mm Time Trial event meant only two medals could be awarded, Alison Chisholm proved the Women's 35-39 500mm Time Trial was not lacking class when she broke her own 12 month old European Masters Best Time by half a second on the second day of competition.
With Masters regular Petra Kluender of Germany not riding this year, Finlands Arja Scarsbrook stepped up to the mark to take Gold, while Alison Chisholm retained her 2009 title. In the Mens 70+ category, Great Britain's Roland Crayford, missing last year, went back two years to regain the Time Trial title from last years winner Peter Tranberg of Denmark who took the Silver.
