Day 6
A very successful 2010 National Junior and Youth Track Championships came to an end on Friday with another six titles decided. Most of the races were either omniums (under 14 boys and girls) or time trials but one event that was none of those and stands out for many reasons, was the Junior Women's Points race won by Laura Trott from two exceptional Under 16 talents, Emily Kay and Elinor Barker.

The Junior Men's Kilo may have been a time trial but with Kian Emadi knocking out a very respectable and world class 1.04.6 to win it from Callum Skinner and Lewis Oliva, the event was certainly full of interest. The Under 16 Men's TT saw more good times with James Berryman blasting round in 34.174 with Alex Minting second and  Matthew Rotherham third.

In the Under 16 Female 500 metre Time Trial, Sarah Crowley was fastest from Jessica Crampton and Amy Roberts. Grace Garner won all but one of her events to win the Under 14 Girls Omnium while the Boys Under 14 omnium was a cliff hanger with only one point between the winner Jack Hoyle and the riders in second and third who both scored 9 points, Max Nethall getting the Silver on countback and Tristan Robbins the bronze. Day 5
The fifth day of competition, was, like all the others, a powerful demonstration of the quality that lies within the Junior and Youth ranks these days. There were many highlights like the Keirin final won by Kian Emadi or the Junior Men’s Points race which was nothing short of brutal. Welshman Owain Doull won that race to defeat World Junior Madison champion Simon Yates.

The Under 16 Girls Points Race was also very very attacking with Amy Roberts beating her arch rival Emily Kay. The Men's Under 16 Sprint came to it's conclusion with an all Sport City Velo final between James Berryman and Matthew Rotherham with Berryman winning in straight rides. Finally, but certainly not least, there was the Junior Women’s 500 metre Time Trial won by Commonwealth Games rider Laura Trott who beat her teammate by a a few thousandths of a second. Full Results

Day 4
On the fourth day of the British Cycling Junior & Youth Track Championships in Newport (Wales), World Junior Championship medallist, Sam Harrison from Wales, won the Gold medal for the Individual Pursuit when he beat World Junior Madison champion Dan McLay in the final.

Another Welsh rider, Owain Doull beat Under 16 champion Jonathan Dibben  for the Bronze medal. In the Junior Women's event, another World Champion (Junior), Laura Trott, won the Individual Pursuit after beating Hannah Barnes in that final while Hannah Walker beat Harriet Owen for the Bronze. Emily Kay of the Halesowen A & CC won the Under 16 Girls Scratch race beating Lucy Garner and Elinor Barker. Full Results

Day 3
Jonathan Dibben won his third Gold medal of the Championships after winning the Under 16 Boys Points Race ahead of Chris Latham and Christopher Lawless. In the Junior Women's Sprint competition, Victoria Williamson defeated Under 16 Women’s Sprint Champion Jess Crampton while Hannah Barnes was third. Records are reported to have been broken in the Under 16 Girls 2000m Pursuit when Emily Kay won the final in 2.32.950 ahead of Elinor Barker who did a time of 2.37.133.

Amy Roberts was third. World Madison champion Dan Mclay beat his fellow World Madison champion teammate, Simon Yates, to the line in the Junior Men Scratch Race to add that title to the World and National ones in his collection. Day 2
On day 2 of the Junior and Youth National Track Championships in Newport (Wales), Hannah Barnes added the Junior Women's Scratch race title to the recent Senior National Circuit Race championship title and the many more she has in her palmeres. Jonathan Dibben won his second title of the Championships in the Under 16 Boys Scratch race to add to his Pursuit title he won on Day 1.

In the Under 16 Girls Sprint competition, Jessica Crampton (sister of Great Britain sprinter Matt) won the event while the other title decided on day 2 was the Junior Men's Sprint competition and this went to Scottish hope, John Paul who won the Gold after two victories in the final.   Full Results

Day 1
Competition began on Sunday at the British Cycling 2010 Junior and Youth National Track Championships in Newport (Wales) with events for Under 12's (Omnium) and Under 16 Boys (Pursuit) where a new national record was set. Winner of the Under 16 Pursuit was Jonathan Dibben who broke the National Record in qualifying with a 2.15.493 for the 2,000 metres.

In the Under 12 Boys Omnium,  Tomos Owens of the Mid Shropshire Wheelers did his parents proud as he won that competition after winning two of the three events. In the Under 12 Girls competition, Sophie Capewell of the Lichfield CC defeated Charlotte Broughton of the Leicestershire RC who recently won an international road event in Holland. Capewell had won two of the three events to clinch the competition from Broughton who had won the opening event in the omnium. Full Results
