Track workshops available for advanced techniques, covering both Derny and Madison.
Derny Workshop
The Derny Workshop provides a practical opportunity for those wishing to train as a Derny driver/pacer. Track coaches can also gain a remit to coach with a Derny.
What will I be doing on the workshop?
In this 4 hour workshop Derny drivers will experience driving and/or coaching the Derny on a velodrome, and develop skills for pacing on the track both for rider development and to prepare for competition.
The workshop also includes a practical exploration of coaching with a Derny, developing an understanding of coaching activities . Coaches can gain a remit to deliver sessions that include a Derny.
Part 1 – Learning to drive a derny to achieve Motor Pace C as a minimum, including Kierin pacing and competition.
Part 2 – Coaching with a Derny. A practical exploration of coaching activities using a derny.
What do I need to register and what can I do when I complete the workshop?

| Derny driving | Experience of riding the track. Anyone wishing to complete their training and assessment on an electric derny requires a Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) license as a minimum. British Cycling recommend that anyone learning to drive a derny completes CBT. British Cycling Member |

Remit to coach using a derny (not driving) |

Derny Coaching Workshop
This option provides coaches with an opportunity to complete the 4 hour practical Derny Workshop to gain a remit to coach with a Derny.
What will I be doing on the workshop?
In this 4-hour workshop Coaches will gain an understanding of the Derny, including safety, coaching and use of the Derny in competition.
Coaches should attend the workshop to understand safety considerations and experience a practical exploration of coaching with a Derny, developing a range of coaching activities.
What do I need to register and what can I do when I complete the workshop?

Madison Coaching Workshop
This 5 hour workshop aims to develop coaches’ knowledge and understanding of the Madison event.
The workshop explains the Madison techniques, tactics and coaching activities, including practical coaching demonstrations on current Madison techniques and coaching practices.
What can I do on completion?
On successful completion of the workshop, track coaches* will gain a remit to coach Madison techniques, tactics and activities.
